Mental Health
Although this expression is frequently used in
our day to day life, the actual meaning of mental health is often
misinterpreted. Mental health is frequently considered as an alternative for several
other mental health conditions which includes nervousness , depression, and so on.
However, based on World Health Organization definition it is “a state of well-being
in which every individual realizes his or her own potential, can cope with the
normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to
make a contribution to her or his community.” Hence it is not really about mental
health condition but about how well it is going.
To be more precise, expert has defined a
different term to describe the variation between mental health and mental
condition. Several people has put emphasis on mental health that is all about
wellness instead of illness. Terms that include good mental health, mental
wellbeing, happiness and subjective wellbeing has been described to give more
emphasis on mental health instead of sickness. However some people have argued
that it only create confusion when mental health is defined using several
words.
According to the research, higher mental
health are linked with rising productivity, learning, better physical health,
social behavior, life expectancy and social relationship. Whereas mental health
condition can have direct effect on daily relationship and functioning and also
interrelated to bad physical health and early demise. One of the main thing to
note is that mental health is very complicated. A person suffering mental
health condition need not compulsorily flourish their mental health because
mental health condition can be diagnosed. There are large number of things that
is to be taken into consideration to diagnosed mental health condition.
Precisely, mental health condition is likely to be caused by the combination of
various factor. Some of which are listed below:
Ø Biological factors— mental illness can be inheritably transfer
from parents to their child. Hormones also can be considered as another factor
for mental health condition.
Ø Life events—there
are various events that occur in our life during young period and during day to
day activities that can cause mental illness.
Ø Drugs misuse—drugs that includes alcohol, weeds and so on
can have direct influence on our brain which are not predictable.
Ø Internal factor—when internal emotion and feeling contradict
external environment then mental stress can occur.
